Are You Digitally Addicted?

Check out this really interesting blog posting from Psychology Today. Here's an excerpt:

"A recent social media addiction study by Retrevo reveals 27% of those surveyed under 35 years old admitted to checking their social media pages such as Twitter and Facebook more than ten times a day. Thirty-six percent of the 35 and under group admitted to updating their platforms right after having sex while 40% in this same age group admitted to updating while driving."

  1. It IS addictive and I do check mine several times a day, BUT have not gotten to the point of posting private details, which make me a bit uncomfortable to read on anyone's page, nor do I update while driving. I did have the net on my phone for a while, but decided that it just wasn't THAT necessary to stay connected from everywhere. I think, like all other potential addictions, one must use moderation. :-)

  2. I do have an social media addiction. I do not share uncomfortable personal information.
lot of my workday is spent in front of a monitor, so it evolves into checking out FB as a stress reducer/better than smoking addiction.
However, I do freak out when the phone is missing....

  3. Last Week, I wrote "away from the Internet for a while" in my Facebook wall. Even thought I was working for very important papers, I could not stop checking my facebook every hours. Doing this while driving sounds really dangerous ~~~

So, social media addiction no, technology addiction, yes.
